Welcome to our Restaurant De Blauwe Hollander

De Blauwe Hollander (The Blue Dutchman) opened her doors at the first of April 1979, the name “Blauwe” (Blue) is a reference
to the blue uniforms of the marines who used to be sent to Indonesia and Suriname to stay as a permanent representative of Holland.

The Dutch Cuisine was more appreciated for the man over sea’s because in the tropical atmosphere it wasn’t the usual meal the got and it tempered their longing back to Holland.

Since the 18th of May we ( Tessa van Oosterom en Tieme Hogema) took over the Restaurant De Blauwe Hollander.
This world-famous Restaurant is over 30 years old now, and in this time has known a lot of proprietors. The typical Dutch cuisine has always maintained the right of existence, sometimes more than other, but the authenticity of the food prepared with daily fresh products has never gone away.


inrichtingIn January of 2010 we gave the interior a fresh renewal but kept the warm “living room” warmth, we used to feel at mom’s home.
The interior is cozy, warm and pleasant, dark wood alternate with smooth walls and soft gentle light makes for a relaxed and lay back ambience.




The Kitchen

keukenThe times where hotchpotch, pea soup and stew were the things to eat have never passed, with us the whole season and every day its still available. Next to that  we serve sea mussels, baked sea bass or plaice filet with mash of parsnip and a lovely Amsterdam onion sauce. Let us surprise you with our home made cheese croquettes or celery turnip soup with smoked mackerel as a starter. And for a typical Dutch dessert we have the yogurt with vanilla custard, poffertjes, or Grandmothers home made apple pie.
